Costa Rica Bridge
Costa Rica Bridge

          Welcome to our blog. As you will notice by the title, here we'll write about our experiences and we'll publish our photos from our two-month trip in Costa Rica for volunteering (the title may change on condition of the next trip).

         To be honest I've never had anything to do with writing and I've never had the saraki* to write to a blog, but it's clearly the best way to share and record our experiences since publishers do not meet our ambitions and requirements . Well let's get on the juice, Why Costa Rica, Why volunteering work and what the _ _ _ _ is this workaway.

 Let's put the things in order. Tell the truth, who in Greece did know anything about this country before mundial 2014, namely before the game with the Greek National Team, where we have excluded from the continuity of the organization in the shootout; Only geeks....

Following, we will share some information for the "rich coast", as is the translation of the country's name, which we found through our search on the internet.

How we decided COSTA RICA;

    After one year already (and something) in Edinburgh, we started to get bored of everyday life and mountila* weather, so we decided to find a way to make a great trip not as tourists but living everyday’s life with the locals through volunteering.

We divided our search to two points: the "place" and the "the way". At the "place" our favorite was always Costa Rica, from Central and Latin America, we had it in our mind from the World Cup. CR(Costa rica,no Cristiano Ronaldo) is very popular for the coffee plants, so as coffee lovers, was an opportunity to improve our knowledge about the coffee. After a lot of research to various factors, such as working conditions and safety, Costa Rica is considered perhaps the safest country in Central and Latin America, and reconfirmed as our destination

  But we have to find the way, various organizations mainly from the United States were asking crazy amounts of money to take in order just to go as a volunteers, crazy e? You see there usually after the high school or uni or even for career brake, they use to go for some time for volunteering, so-called gap year as they say in my village. After some trouble we found the workaway. What's that you'll ask me now? It is a community which is divided into two parts at hostess and volunteers.

  The hostess are all over the world and you can find the category that you want, farms, hotels, families who wants help in the house, whatever you might be interested. The hostesses open some "jobs" and states capabilities that they want from a volunteer which will provide housing and perhaps feeding. In contrast the volunteer requests that interested in the position in the host and then waits for the confirmation and details.

Once we found the way it's time to move on to the next step which was to find the ideal hosts for us and to buy the tickets.Finally wasn't too easy as we thought. Again after a lot of research, many rejections and delays we found the best two (we hope) and more suitable for us, hostess, the one was in the southwest CR and the other one was in the mainland close to San Jose which is the capital.
So we had to do some more preparation and then we were ready for our trip.
See you again at the following posts about our adventure.
